James Wayne Lewis was born and raised in New Mexico and has always had an appreciation for all types of art. Living in New Mexico and Sonora, Mexico he has been around diverse cultures for a lifetime. " I love the passion that these cultures have and share, from the many types of art expressed, music, scuplture, painting, dance." 

The artist was primarily self taught until he felt a need for growth and experimentation. He has studied with world renowned artists including muralist Hector Vari of Mazatlan., and New Mexico artist Ricardo Chavez-Mendez. 
J Wayne has lived on the Sea of Cortez and has always had a passion for the Sea and Marine life and all natural resoures.
His paintings often reflect his many trips on the water and his passion for the ocean, the sunsets and the free forms of the waves.


 J Wayne's career to become an artist , came after being inspired by his artistically talented daughter Natasha, a very talented California artist.
